walking in the dream world - prison for my mind

Morpheus: Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real?
What if you were unable to wake from that dream?
How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

("The Matrix", 1999)

my former self

I see you in the dark corner of the street
Coming after me,
Headlights on full-beam
Coming down the fast lane
Coming after me,
I would like to change back now
To the shadow of
The shadow of my former self
It follows me around
(Radiohead, "Follow Me Around")

no direction home

When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal
(Bob Dylan, "Like A Rolling Stone", 1965)

the taxi driver II

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
(Joni Mitchell, "Big Yellow Taxi", 1970)

lead role in a cage

And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage ?
(Pink Floyd, "Wish You Were Here", 1975)

Hey, do you read me ?

Do you read me, won't you tell me?
If you read me, then please believe me, when I say
Yes I've been waiting, seems like forever
I've been waiting, my situation ain't got much better
(Rory Gallagher, "Do You Read Me", 1976)

«Γυναίκα μετά τον μόχθο»*

I was born here and I'll die here against my will
I know it looks like I'm moving, but I'm standing still
Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb
I can't even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don't even hear a murmur of a prayer
It's not dark yet, but it's getting there.
(Bob Dylan, "Not Dark Yet", 1997)

the taxi driver

And I met this taxi driver who drives me around town
Telling tales of his back seat women
(Bruce Springsteen, "Jazz Musician")

down the road

Better down the road
without that load

walking back in time

And freedom is a dark road when you're walking it alone
(Paul Simon, "A Church Is Burning")

little miss Amanda

Little miss Amanda wants to know how long you’re going to be gone
And she asked me can i fix it so the record plays the rest of her song
(Elliott Smith, "Amanda Cecilia")

young ladies

Eye contact is on, all I see is sihlouette
Sheer plastic, freaky so fantastic
I wanna touch it, see if it's real
True at heart, I wanna see how you really feel
Take off your mask and reveal
(Guru, "Young Ladies", 1995)

dylan's dog

have you seen / dylan's dog /
it got wings
/ it can fly /
if you speak
/ of it to him /
it's the only /
time dylan /
can't look you in the eye
(Patty Smith, "Dog Dream", Early Work: 1970-1979)

the arcade

A saxophone someplace far off played
As she was walking on by the arcade
As the light bust through a-beat-up shade where he was waking up
She dropped a coin into the cup of a blind man at the gate
And forgot about a simple twist of fate.
(Bob Dylan, "Simple Twist Of Fate", 1975)

time is a train

Time is a train
Makes the future the past

Leaves you standing in the station

Your face pressed up against the glass

(U2, 1991)
